Installing, Configuring and Administering Windows XP Professional

Who should attend this course?

The course has been designed for students at the beginning of their IT career. Recent graduates, current help desk employees and those students looking for a career change.


Any experience with any of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems would be beneficial, however is not a prerequisite for attending the course.

 

Duration

5 days (full time)
9:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday (lunch and refreshments provided)

 

Course Content

The course consists of practical exercises that build your understanding and experience of managing Windows XP in a corporate environment, while preparing you for the Microsoft 70-270 certification exam.

Students who successfully pass this exam will be awarded an MCP from Microsoft and will have completed one of the required exams towards their MCSA/MCSE.

Day 1

  • Installing Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Automating an installation of Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Day 2

  • Configuring Hardware on a Computer Running Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Managing Disks

Day 3

  • Configuring and Managing File Systems
  • Troubleshooting the Boot Process and Other System Issues.

Day 4

  • Configuring the Desktop Environment
  • Configuring the TCP/IP Addressing and Name Resolution
  • Configuring Microsoft Windows XP Professional to Operate in Microsoft Windows Networks

Day 5

  • Supporting Remote Users
  • Configuring Windows XP Professional for Mobile Computing
  • Monitoring Resources and Performance
